Stripping the willow
In rows, the trees wait… until the music finally begins and they can dance. In this Scottish dance pairs line up in rows, just like the trees along this lane. Once the music starts, the pairs spin alternately.
When we are not looking, the trees can dance beneath the stars.
For this years theme of bridging, I created this work where I bridge the space between the trees above our heads. By dancing together, you can bridge anything you would like: culture, religion, gender, different interests, education, social status, or your usual group of friends. When you can dance, these elements are irrelevant to the connection you make.
