For centuries, songs have been sung and played in honour of the sea, of the bold adventurers who dared
defy her and the loved ones they left behind. Laterns burning, waiting. Zy brandt, o moogt gij wederkeren (She is lit, o shall thy return) Two rough seascapes in the lanterns on each side of the historic church door on the former island Schokland, once surrounded by sea, now by new land.
